Pertamina EP Found New Gas Reserves of Lavatera-1 Exploration Well

OIL AND GAS

Pertamina EP Found New Gas Reserves of Lavatera-1 Exploration Well

Pertamina EP found natural gas reserve in the area of PAFE Pagardewa, South Sumatera. The result of production test in exploration well of Lavatera (LVT)-1 produced gas for 5, 7 million standard cubic feet of gas per day (MMSCFD) in the well opening 36/64 inch.

“We thanks God that the finding of natural gas reserve in LVT-1 well add the list of success of exploration in the area of PAFE Pagardewa. The finding has given significant contribution in the middle of production optimization effort and new oil and gas reserves done by Pertamina EP,” says the President Director of Pertamina EP, Syamsu Alam.

To encourage the increase of gas production, Pertamina EP plans POP (Put On Production) for Lavatera well by early 211, with its production plan of 3 MMSCFD. It seems like the POP program of seven wells done previously in Pagardewa structure, Tasim, and Prabumenang in gas production of 17 MMSCFD and condensate 450 BOPD. The gas production is to fulfill gas needs of South Sumatra West Java (SSWJ) through Gas Purchase Agreement with PGN.

Lavatera structure is located in Muara Enim, South Sumatera or about 3 km east of Tasim structure or 2, 5 km northwest of Pagardewa structure. The natural gas finding is proven through drill stem test (UKL) in LVT-1 well, interval 820 – 825 m Air Benakat Formation. Exploration in PAFE Pagardewa-Beringin is meant to add new oil and gas reserves; one is by implementing the concept of shallow target exploration in sandstone reservoir Air Benakat Formation (ABF), which was previously proven in Tasim-1 well and Pagardewa-6.

Previously, the success of oil and gas finding in PAFE Pagardewa in 2011 was achieved through the drilling of five delineation wells in Prabumenang, Tasim, and Kuang structure especially in reservoir of Baturaja Formation. In 2011, the result of the finding from five delineation wells in Tasim, Prabumenang, and Kuang structure have added reserves for 169 million barrel oil equivalent (MMBOE).

Exploration PAFE Pagardewa is meant to prove the existence of hydrocarbon in existing structure of Pagardewa, Tasim, Prabumenang and Kuang through delineation well drillings. Recently, some existing structures have been ready to field development phase. Besides, there are some prospects of ready-drill in area of Gajah-Beringin which is the result of 3D-seismic acquisition Gajah-Beringin in 2011. (AK)
